Ok, I have been really bad updating my blog the last couple weeks. But I have a good reason... I've been busy shopping and traveling ;) The good news... I have lots of updates for you all!!
The day after Christmas, a guy from the relocation company my company contracts with took me around town to show me around. Below are pictures from our trip around town.
We visited the local yoga studio. Unfortunately I found it a little far from where I was staying so I decided against signing up.
We took a ride through the Posh part of town, Banjara Hills. This is where all the Tollywood stars have homes along with big company execs.
Afterwards we visited the "NRI grocery store"... surprised at how many US products available here, of course, at a significant markup.
We continued to the other part of the city, Secunderabad. They have this huge man made lake, Hussain Sagar Lake, with a huge Buddha statue in the middle. Reminded me of Sur Sagar Lake in Vadodara.
My escort suggested I didn't get out of the car to get a better look as the lake is very polluted now and has a strong oder as a result.
The rebel in me decided I could hold my breath for a min for a closer look and a quick pic ;)
A quick panoramic of the lake surroundings
The temple on the top of the hill is the famous Birla Mandir of Hyderabad
There are tons of McD's in Hyderabad (in all of India actually), but this was the first and only drive-thru I have seen here. Someone should really tell the guy waiting at the window that one of his brake lights is out.
For lunch we went to Little Italy, there were four courses for lunch alone not including the buffet also included with lunch. Talk about a deal. The food was delish! All the food was really good here, I plan on heading back soon!
Finding home decorating inspiration at every turn
We ended our day visiting another mall close to the hotel. The movie theater in this mall is suppose to be huge with alot more shows compared to the one inside InOrbit Mall
Make shift homes setup right on the side of the road. Most of these families sell live chickens for dinner.
You can see the chickens in the cages in this picture. Made me sad to think of the tight little space all these little guys have to share.
On the way home we made a quick pitstop to Hyderabad's famous Karachi Bakery. If you are ever in here, you HAVE to try the biscuits from this place, they are the best ever! I have a feeling we will be visiting this place alot more once Deepak gets here! :) Oh yes, did I mention he finally got the OK from his company to join me for the rest of my rotation here!! He will be here in week!!
